Paintings

Donna Taylor is a watercolour artist based in Labertouche, West Gippsland, whose passion lies in capturing landscapes and childhood memories through her artwork. She enjoys painting the natural landscape and subjects close to her heart; animals and reflections of her early ballet experiences, including pointe shoes and tutus.

Donna’s journey in art began with experimentation across different mediums, but she found her true calling in watercolours. Inspired by the work of Gippsland artist Lois Brown, Donna enrolled in Lois’ workshops, which became a significant influence on her artistic development.  To this day, Donna enjoys weekly painting classes, also volunteering in a teaching role and assisting with managing the Creative Yarragon Art Group.

The natural beauty surrounding Donna’s home, in rural Victoria provides endless inspiration through its diverse wildlife and picturesque countryside. She describes her artistic style as loose and impressionistic, allowing watercolours to guide her creative process and appreciating the unique marks they create on paper.

Donna values continuous learning, drawing insights from fellow watercolourists both in Australia and internationally; her dedication to her creative practice stems from the belief in the importance of consistent practice and a lifelong love for the art of watercolour painting.
